Why did you decide on construction as your career?
As a child my father was always building something and from the time I could hand him nails, I was at his side. Even today the smell of fresh cut lumber brings back those memories. As I grew we built larger projects from warehouses to my own home. There is a certain satisfaction that comes from standing back and admiring something you built with your own hands.
What is about what VBC/JB does that excites you?
The pace at which the companies are growing and the opportunities that present themselves along with that growth. Seeing a group of dedicated people all coming together to reach a common goal of becoming one of the largest commercial manufacturing companies in the US.
What did you do in your career prior to this and how did it lead you to VBC?
I grew up working for the family business until moving into an IT role for a local modular manufacturer. In Jan, 2017 I accepted a position in sales for Ritz-Craft corporation where I more than doubled sales in my territory. Once I met Vaughan and he shared his vision with me for the future…I was sold on a move to Johns Buckley.
How did your relationship with VBC happen?
When I made the switch to Johns Buckley, I began to work closely with VBC.
What do you see the future bringing for the business and industry?
I believe the commercial modular industry is still in its infancy. As labor costs continue to rise and the demand for shorter build times grows, commercial modular construction will continue to grow & expand into new markets. With the demand for more product, factories will be forced to implement more automation to increase production with limited labor. There will be a high demand for factories that have embraced this changeover to automation. I know that VBC will be leading the way in automation for the US.
